Dear All, 

Happy New Year! You may remember that back in 2002 when we all came to Kabul that Global Exchange was working on getting compensation for victims of US Bombings. One of the victims is a woman by the name of Arefa who was the “poster child” of this initiative because she had lost her husband and children during those bombings. Nilufar knows her. Aside from all the hardships she has faced in her life before the bombing, she has been raising her 5 kids on her own from the salary I give her for working for me. Now she finally has a chance to buy a piece of land and to build a small mud home. The total cost of the land + cost of building it is around $12,000 USD. She has saved about $3,200 and I can help her with another $2,000 but she is still short $8,000. I am reaching out to you to see if you can help me do fundraising through your networks or Green Cities Fund for her so that at least one of these victims can finally claim a home of her own. Any assistance you can give her will be appreciated.
