67. Kabul Zoo
Although Kabul does have an official zoo, seems like the whole city has turned into one. My car is stopped on the way to work for 10 minutes so a herd of sheep can pass, I am constantly attacked by stray cats and dogs who want to fight me for my food while eating at restaurants, or I am avoiding crushing scurrying rats in cafes. Peacocks are kept as pets, birds are sold for fighting on street corners, snakes surface on ground after a minor earthquake, and scorpions share space in our homes. But nothing is as bad as the misquitos who have conspired to kill me one day by feasting on me...I am surprised I haven't caught malaria yet. I miss the good old days when all I would have to deal with is a timid donkey strolling along Wazir Akbar Khan road.
