60. Regret

Lately, I've noticed I do things that I come to regret rather quickly. Here are a couple of examples to give you an idea: 

Regret No. 1 - Walking in Public Decided to walk down the street yesterday and realized I had a car stalker driving along side just staring at me. So naturally, I got irritated and asked him what the hell he's staring at only to get the following reply: "I'm just hungry." 

Regret No. 2 - Giving Money to a Beggar I usually refrain from handing out money to beggars since it does nothing but encourage them to beg more but every so often I run into some that tear at my heart and the urge to help is overwhelming. The other day I saw a little girl pushing what looked like her invalid grandmother in the middle of traffic in a wheelchair. Naturally, I felt miserable that this poor kid had to do this with her grandmother and its Ramazan so why not help out a bit. I rolled down the car window and handed her the equivalent of 5 iftar dinners in Afghani money just to have her chase me down all the way to the next district asking for more. 

Regret No. 3 - Getting Cable Paid $100 to get cable installed at my house so I can at least watch Koffee with Karan and Modern Family just to realize StarWorld has been cancelled and now I'm stuck watching Pakistani cooking shows all day. 

Regret No.. 4 - Walking into a public bathroom before knocking. Was out on a picnic at Qhargha Lake and decide after long and careful consideration to use the ladies room only to walk in on a lady squatting on the floor with her skirt hiked up around her waste - doing her number two - on the bathroom floor right in front of the stalls with fully functioning toilets in them. The worst part is she was outraged that I had a look of shock and disgust on my face. 

Regret No. 5 - Asking for water during Ramadan Had to take some antibiotics so I asked for a bottle of water at work to take it with. Within minutes I was officially announced as the the "Infidel of the Month". The murderous glances aren't even the worst part. It's the pity and disgraceful looks I get in the hallway from everyone.
