73. When will it end?

Today was a very bad day in Afghanistan. Three cities, Kandahar, Kabul and Mazar Sharif, were hit almost simultaneously by suicide bombers killing almost 60 people and injuring hundreds. The incident in Kabul was the worst. The suicide bomber detonated right outside of a shrine that hundreds of people, deep in prayer, were in because today is the holy day of Ashura. 

 I turned on the news to hear one politician after another condemn this act and give reasons for why they think this happened...some say sectarian violence, some say foreign criminals trying to turn Afghans against each other, and others blame the Taliban. I am so tired of hearing all this BS. Who cares why they did it? They shouldn't have done it at all! This was just barbaric. How can anyone accept human beings doing this to each other for any reason? There was blood and body parts all over the place. People crying out for their loved ones or just out of sheer fear and devastation. It was a scene that I wouldn't wish my enemy to see. I still hear the voices of the people screaming and crying long after I've turned the TV off. 

Many years ago someone told me, "God is just mad at that piece of land. There is nothing anyone can do to save it." That statement was one of the reasons that motivated me to come here in the first place just to prove him wrong. But today, I wonder if he was right....
